How long does it take to refinish hardwood floors?

Refinishing hardwood floors typically takes between one to five days to complete. The exact timeline depends on the type of service being performed, square footage of the floor, the condition of the floor, the type of finish being applied, and the number of coats of finish being applied.

Can you refinish hardwood floors without sanding?

Yes, we can refinish hardwood floors without sanding! This is a great way to bring new life to your floors without the time and expense of a full hardwood floor restoration. There are several methods you can use to refinish your floors without sanding, such as screening, buffing, and recoating. This process involves applying a new layer of polyurethane or other protective finish to the surface of your floors. This will help to protect the wood from scratches, dents, and fading, and it will also help to enhance the natural beauty of your floors. Refinishing hardwood floors without sanding can be a great way to give them a fresh new look without breaking the bank.

We were told our floors could not be sanded and refinished?

Do I need to remove my furniture?

In addition, window Coverings and hanging pictures should be removed from the work area, as well as clearing shelving, mantels, and any breakable. We do not remove or replace furniture but can recommend moving companies.

Can you refinish engineered hardwood floors?

What is Matte, Satin, or Gloss Finishes?

The gloss level is derived from the amount of reflection the finish produces. Not all types of hardwood have the same level of gloss. The three most common types of wood floor finish sheens are matte satin and gloss. Matte, satin finishes offer a more subtle look than gloss finishes. This matte finish has a soft, slightly muted appearance that reflects light but not too brightly. It will look natural and warm and can be an excellent choice for light-color rooms. Gloss finishes, on the other hand, will create a more dramatic look. These highly reflective finishes will give your floor a more polished, high-gloss shine. Satin finishes are also less noticeable to scratches and scuffs, making them an excellent choice for high-traffic areas. Canadian Sander will be able to advise you on which type of finish will work best for your space and which type of materials and process will be necessary to refinish your flooring correctly. Choosing a flooring finish is an important consideration. Knowing all your options will help you make an informed decision. It also ensures you get the look you want for your home or business.

Does Canadian Sanders Provide In-home Estimates?

Yes, we first provide an estimate over the phone or through email. We then schedule a time to have an in-home estimate so we can understand the scope of the renovation as well as determine what your expectations are. During the assessment, we walk on the floor to evaluate any areas that concern you the most, then advise which maintenance service is right for you. Want a free email quote?

What is the difference between an engineered wood floor and solid wood flooring?

Engineered and solid wood flooring are two of the most popular types of flooring available. Both are attractive, durable, and long-lasting options, but there are some critical differences between the two. Engineered wood flooring is created from several layers of wood that are fused. The top layer is a hardwood veneer, usually between 1/16th and 1/12th of an inch thick. The remaining layers are composed of plywood or high-density fiberboard. This type of flooring is less susceptible to warping and shrinking due to temperature and humidity changes. It is also more stable than solid wood flooring, making it a good choice for basements and other rooms with high humidity levels. Solid wood flooring is made from a single piece of hardwood and is usually 3/4 inch thick. It is more susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity and can expand or contract as a result. In addition, solid wood floors are more difficult to install than engineered wood flooring and require more maintenance. Both types of flooring are attractive and durable, but engineered wood flooring is usually the better choice for rooms with high humidity or moisture levels. Solid wood flooring is better suited for rooms without these conditions.

Can you change the color of my hardwood floor?

Yes, it is possible to change the color of your hardwood floor. This process often called staining, involves sanding the wood to remove any existing finish, then applying a tinted color stain. We will determine the best staining technique, depending on the type of wood.

When can I put the area rugs back on the floor after they are refinished?

Waiting at least 72 hours before putting area rugs back on the floor after refinishing is recommended. Sometimes, it may take up to seven days for the floor to fully cure and be ready for rugs. Therefore, it is best to consult a professional before placing any area rugs on the newly refinished floor.

Will the color of wood floors change over time?
